The Stockholm Blockchain Forum taking place on April 11th has announced a stellar show in April with the headlining speakers Ivan Liljeqvist, Taavi Rõivas and Cherie Aimee. Exhibitors include AE, Caledo, Friend, CryptoSalary and ShellPay. The seats for the conference is now almost sold out.

On the 11th of April, Techbook is organising the first Stockholm Blockchain Forum at the Stockholm International Affairs in Älvsjö. The event is bringing together blockchain experts from across the globe to network, forge new business relationships and educate traditional industries on how to implement blockchain technologies. The event is designed along the lines of an online forum brought into a physical space, a concept championed by the former CEO of Optimizer Invest, Carla Maree Vella, who is appointed Director of Content for the event.

“What we are trying to do is to play a bit on the word ‘forum’. As we know in the world of the interwebs, a forum is where people communicate and share information and thoughts. A lot of the conferences I visited last year were very much one-way communication-style. The idea here is to be able to not only to listen to panels and keynotes, but to strategically involve delegates in the discussions through structured networking events and specialised exercises to pull questions out of the audience and have an expert panel discuss those topics,” says Carla Maree Vella.

The Stockholm Blockchain Forum has gathered a number of key players in the Swedish blockchain scene to take part, including companies and organisations such as SweBlocks Academy, Swedish Blockchain Association, ChromaWay, DGOV Foundation, inblockio, Safello, Tokenine, Bitbay, BTCX, ZBX, EOS SW/EDEN, and Flype.

The speaker line-up includes prominent names such as Ivan Liljeqvist, world-famous YouTuber under the name Ivan on Tech; Taavi Rõivas, Former Prime Minister of Estonia; and Cherie Aimée, ranked as the sixth most influential woman in blockchain across the globe.

The agenda of the one-day conference features the topics Regulation, DAOs and Decentralized Governance, Banking and Blockchain, Centralised vs Decentralized Exchanges, Banking Today and the Future Token Economy, a comprehensive Q&A session where the audience can engage experts on stage for any queries on blockchain use cases, as well as a number of Thought Leader interviews.

Delegates are expected to learn how blockchain can be implemented into particular business cases, in what ways it can be used to enhance customer and supplier relationships, ROI and operational efficiency, as well as the current status of the technology, regulation, feasibility of adoption and integration requirements. The day will also include a session on how tokenisation of assets can be realised in Sweden in accordance with the current financial regulations.

Delegates are suggested to reserve their seats quickly as the organisers are running out of available tickets with less than 50 seats remaining. The conference is sharing its expo floor with four other conferences and exhibitors can benefit from hundreds of key decision makers under one roof. The forum is sponsored by the exhibitors AE, Caledo, Friend, CryptoSalary and ShellPay. The Stockholm Blockchain Forum is a must-go for anyone who wish to dive deeper into the actual use cases of blockchain and network with C-Suite professionals as well as some of the most innovative start-ups in the field.

Sthlm Fintech week: key takeaways from the Blockchain track

Posted on

Yes, they did it – and it was an amazing week! Organizers Lana Brandorne, Anna Blyablina and Love Dager put together this ground-breaking event in Stockholm: the first edition of Sthlm Fintech week.

Throughout the week Sthlm Fintech Week brought together industry leaders and experts in different areas within fintech: from regtech and insurtech to sustainability and blockchain.

I was particularly interested in the Blockchain track – coming straight from Stockholm’s central station after a 5 hour journey from Malmö, I headed straight away to SUP46 for the Blockchain track.

Here is a few takeaways from the track:

Mika Honkasalo (Robin Capital) : “The next generation of internet protocols is being built right now”

Mika (main photo) started the afternoon with the state of the Nordic crypto market. He pointed out that 2018 (coming to 2019) was the year that major financial institutions made their first public moves to blockchain/crypto.

Also, the Nordics have a great pool of developers the can solve major computer problems .

Agnieszka Sarnecka (Neufund): “Don’t trade your [equity tokens] until you finish your fundraising”.

Talking about “Fundraising on Blockchain: How to do an Equity Token Offering”, Agnieszka make another important point: storytelling.

Surely, storytelling is crucial to make people, and more importantly investors, interested in your product.

Oliver Oram (Chainvine): “Intelligent contracts are not replacing lawyers themselves, but offering new services.”

With “The importance of being agnostic”, Oliver talked about smart contracts, or how he likes to call it, intelligent contracts. They didn’t come to make lawyers obsolete but came to complement the services they already provide.

Carla Maree Vella (XD Consulting): “In Crypto we trust, in code we trust, in law we must.”

This was the second time I’ve seen Carla speak – the first time was last November in the Malta Blockchain Summit.

Her lecture was “Regulatory Boundaries: Are they stifling growth and innovation in crypto?” – she pointed out that regulations, especially in a jurisdiction like Malta, didn’t come to policy and hold back growth, but create a environment where blockchain companies can be liable and therefore, grow their business in a trustworthy way.

A special thanks to Jens Frid for co-organizing the Blockchain track!

The Sthlm Fintech week will be back in 2020.

Sthlm Fintech Week to host ground-breaking fintech conference

Posted on

On February 11-15, the community-driven Sthlm Fintech Week will host a five-day conference in the heart of Stockholm gathering the best of fintech from all across the Nordics. The event will be a platform for start-ups, banks, legislators and corporate representatives to meet and discuss opportunities and challenges within the fintech community.

Over the course of the week, more than 50 start-ups will meet with banks, representatives from the Government Offices and the Central Bank of Sweden.

Investors and representatives from academia will discuss new trends of Fintech, Regtech, Blockchain, Insurtech, Sustainability and Impact tech, Digitalization, Regulation and Nordic Collaboration, as well as offer opportunities of investment and fintech acceleration.

“Stockholm accounted for nearly 50% of total fintech investments in the Nordics in 2018″

Anna Gissler, Acting CEO of Stockholm Business Region, one of the conference’s partners and supporter.

Joining Stockholm Business Region as partner of the conference are Amazon Web Services, Wirecard, Itello, Capgemini, Trustly, SEB and Norrsken Foundation.

One of the highlights for me will be the Blockchain track. Happening tomorrow (Tuesday 12th Feb), the track will bring a diverse group of keynote speakers discussing topics varying from the state of the crypto market in the Nordics, equity tokens, next-generation dapps platform to brokerage as service, intelligent contracts and crypto regulation.

On Wednesday 13th Feb, the much awaited Sustainability and Impact Tech track is happening at Norrsken House – part of Norssken Foundation. A very interesting panel discussion about the impact of startups and their sustainable development goals (SDG) will open the day. The track will also bring sustainable business cases, like AidHedge that promises to identify and help manage financial risks in aid and sustainable development projects.

“Norrsken Foundation strives to make a positive impact on people and planet. Our coworking space, Norrsken House is a hub for the brightest people in tech, entrepreneurship and impact and so it follows that our doors are always open to events like Stockholm Fintech Week who bring world-changing entrepreneurs together to create something very special. We’re delighted to be involved”, Thom Feeney, General Manager, Norrsken House Stockholm said

Blockchain 360° conference: Nordic’s most important event happens in Stockholm

Posted on

Blockchain PR is proud to be invited to take part of the Blockchain360° conference – one of the most senior conferences in the Nordics  happening in Stockholm 12th – 13th November 2018.

The Swedish Blockchain Association (SBA) is teaming up with Blockchain 360 ° – Sweden’s first news site bringing the latest about the Swedish and international blockchain scene – to bring one of the best blockchain conferences in the Nordics.

“Already in the first day we had thousands of readers – the interest is huge,” says John Uggla, chief editor of Blockchain 360 °.

That’s why the Swedish Blockchain Association (SBA) was so keen to team up with Blockchain 360 ° . Behind SBA are Andreas Johansson and Benjamin Dahl, both early believers in Blockchain and decentralization.

“It feels extremely fun to work with the people who were involved in the first steps of blockchain in Sweden. Andreas Johansson and Benjamin Dahl, and the network that they built, will contribute with comprehensive skills and know-how about technology and industry while we hope to give a fair picture of how hugely exciting this sector is. We feel like an unbeatable team” said Daniele Truini, head of events at Blockchain 360 °.

Indeed, Stockholm and Sweden became a bubble of innovation power, driven by a new generation of entrepreneurs. Cryptocurrencies finally made their way into everyday conversations in Sweden – 2017 was the year the word blockchain reached mainstream, hence the demand of a event of this importance.

World’s top industry experts tell all at Blockchain 360 °

During Blockchain 360 ° (12th – 13h November 2018), several of the world’s top experts in blockchain gather together to give companies and organizations a unique insight into the blockchain technology. Plus, exciting seminars varying from workshops to examining successful cases, will help businesses adapt and develop business models for future entrepreneurship.

A good example is Sven Edgren of Norwegian DNV GL, who will tell how the Chinese platform VeChain has linked goods and logistics to blockchain. By following the product from farm to shelf, consumers will have a fully transparent picture from the product’s origin – that wouldn’t be possible without blockchain.

Blockchain PR goes to Malta Blockchain Summit 2018

Malta Blockchain Summit is just a few days away and Blockchain PR is coming along for the event. If you are attending that too, get in touch.

The buzz around the Malta Blockchain Summit is palpable. It’s no surprise that the Expo floor has been sold out for some time now. Due to the high demand for a sought-after-stand we’ve added a special section to accommodate extra booths.

In addition to a slew of carefully curated exhibitors, a line-up of some of the most influential movers and shakers in the crypto-world have signed on as speakers. Heading the pack and lending prestige to the conferences are leading figures such as W. Scott Stornetta, the infamous Winklevoss twins, live-wire John McAfee and Hanson Robotics’ most exciting creation – Sophia the robot. 5000 delegates, many flying in from right across the globe, can expect a series of riveting discussions about the world-changing potential applications of the blockchain, as well as AI, Big Data, Quantum Technology and IoT.

Lending their patronage to the event is Her Excellency, Marie-Louise Coleiro, President of Malta and The Honourable Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister of Malta, who is slated to give the official opening keynote speech at the Regulatory Conference. The President is guest of honour at the upcoming Blockchain Awards on the 31st of October.

The Summit agenda also includes a Hackathon. Lured by a €50 thousand prize, 16 blockchain teams are already confirmed to compete. The Hackathon is backed by a number of terrific sponsors, such as, eToro, Dao.Casino, Snips, and IOST. The competition will be mentored by industry greats such as, John McAfee, Noam Eppel, Jimmy Zhong, and Mikhail Savchenko, amongst others. The Hackathon is partnered with CryptoFriends.

An ICO Pitch is also on the books. 37 ICOs will bump elbows with 1000 investors in the Pitch room, before facing 18 savvy investors from the judging panel. The Pitch is partnered with d10e and comes with an impressive $ 100,000 prize pool.

Startups will also receive support from other quarters; Malta Enterprise is offering 40 free booths as part of new MBS initiative – Startup Village, which aims to support deserving startups.

Rounding off proceedings are lavish dinners and networking events, including a Champagne Brunch on the 3rd of November. The Summit ends on a high note with an evening crypto cruise – a trio of crypto boats carrying over 150 C-level executives will set off for a tour of Valletta’s majestic harbour. Partners, CoinsBank, add their name to the third boat.

A decadent Closing Night wraps things up. The event joins forces with FUTURAMA and will take place at one of the best locations on the island – the elegant Westin Dragonara.
